Aphrodite's Moon
Old Entry for a Valentines day 2011
Poem Contest.
Whilst summer days are long, my love,
Tapestries of emerald and sapphire,
Languid, warm and serene,
I miss the sable winter nights.
Though the autumn eve is gorgeous, dear,
With crowns of gold and ruby,
Crisp, cool and sanguine,
I miss the diamond-studded sky.
Dawn in spring is lovely, though,
Carpets of rich and vibrant pattern,
Full of life and promise and song,
Still, I miss the solace of silence
The wintertime is best, I know,
For the days are short and sweet,
The cold brings us closer, love,
And the nights, they let us linger.
Sweet pearl moon, garbed in silver,
Let me bathe in your beauty,
Radiant in borrowed light,
Seeing in you more to love.
